What are the contraindications of Colon Hydrotherapy?
For your safety, colon hydrotherapy may not be appropriate for individuals with certain medical conditions. Please review the list below before booking your appointment. If you currently have any of the following conditions, colon hydrotherapy may not be recommended unless you have written clearance from your physician.
Contraindications may include:
- Abdominal hernia
- Recent abdominal, colon, or rectal surgery (within the past 3–6 months)
- Severe or unexplained abdominal distention
- Acute liver failure or cirrhosis
- Severe or uncontrolled anemia
- Aneurysm (any type)
- Active cancer or cancer under treatment
- Colitis or inflammatory bowel disease
- Crohn’s disease
- Dialysis or severe kidney disease
- Renal insufficiency
- Diverticulosis or diverticulitis
- Recent gastrointestinal or rectal bleeding
- Severe hemorrhoids or recent hemorrhoidectomy
- Intestinal perforation
- Lupus or severe autoimmune flare
- Pregnancy
- Rectal prolapse
- Unexplained severe abdominal pain
- Severe or uncontrolled hypertension
- Severe or uncontrolled blood sugar (Clients with controlled diabetes can receive colonics)
Medications and medical treatments that may require physician clearance include:
- Blood thinners or anticoagulants
- Prolonged steroid use or medications that may weaken the intestinal wall
- Chemotherapy or radiation therapy
- Immunosuppressive medications
- Any medication or treatment that may significantly affect healing, bleeding risk, or intestinal integrity
